If that was true, there would be no models,” observed author Fran Lebowitz during a New York Fashion Week party for the Pirelli calendar at Cipriani Wall Street.“Artifice is fashion,” she further mused. “People’s concept of beauty is different now than it was 50 years ago … It used to mean blond, blue-eyed white girl, and now it can be any color of person and any ethnicity. But still beautiful. There are no models that are not beautiful. They may not be to your taste … but that is a personal thing.”The 2017 Pirelli calendar, of course, features lots of beauty, including Nicole Kidman, Uma Thurman and Helen Mirren, and was shot by iconic photographer Peter Lindbergh.
